Public Art Placements
Here are some of our first successes:
"Blue Trinity" by James Kelsey -- This sculpture was purchased by the Kennewick Centennial Art Committee and donated to the City of Kennewick's Art Collection in honor of the City's Centennial. It was installed on February 22, 2006 in Kennewick, Washington, at the corner of Cascade and Kennewick Avenue, in historic Downtown Kennewick. The first abstract addition to the City's art collection, this makes a striking addition to the bronze sculptures nearby. The sculpture was unveiled and dedicated on April 20, 2006. (An article on the dedication ceremony is on the "Press" link above.)
Dave Mitchell (Tri-Art Gallery), Danielle Krol (Mid-Columbia Libray), Nancy Russell (Friends of the LIbrary), and Tom McClelland (Artist) | | The Artist describing the facial reconstruciton process. |
"Kennewick Man Facial Reconstruction" by Tom McClelland and James Chatters -- This sculpture was purchased by the Friends of the Mid-Columbia Library and donated to the Mid-Columbia Library's Kennewick branch. It was installed inside the forum of the Union Street library and dedicated on February 24, 2006. See the "Kennewick Man" link to the left for more information on purchasing one of these limited edition sculptures.
Three Wind Sculptures by Utah artist Lyman Whitaker were purchased for an installation in McMurray Park in Richland. These are now installed and make a great addition to the park!
We also assisted Tom McClelland in the recently installed commission of his 30-foot stainless steel sculpture at George Prout Pool in Richland. This was the first commission of the Richland Arts Commission, and is a stunning addition to the City's Public Art collection.
One of our sculptures was purchased for the permanent collection of Washington State University Tri-Cities. "Blue Heron" by Jud Turner was exhibited at WSU Tri-Cities, then purchased through the Digital Technology Club as a donation to the university's permanent art collection.
