Monumental Stainless Steel
Bronze
Tom McClelland has an amazing, diverse portfolio of sculpture. "Art-making is a life-long process," he says, "and I have made art ever since I can remember. No matter what other disciplines or skills I develop along the way, it is my art thinking (or vision, if you wish) that insists I approach all endeavors in my life with a creative spirit." His original use of colors and pigments on his bronze work make his work sought after by collectors. "These colors, as well as the textures, are largely inspired by those I have found while exploring the Eastern Washington drylands in which I live: sage, dry grasses, basalt, and lichens."

Although Tom is known mostly for his bronze work, we commissioned Tom to complete a monumental Stainless Steel sculpture based on our Gallery logo. A sketch of this work – "Elemental" – is on our home page, and the photos on these pages show his progress on this piece, which is now completed and installed.
We were pleased to support an artist who is not only local, but whose works are amazing, diverse, and gaining recognition nationwide/
He has recently completed two major installations over the last few months. He was commissioned by the Washington Arts Commission to complete a large bronze sculpture for their new Social Work building, and he was commissioned by the Richland (WA) Arts Commission for a large stainless steel wall-mounted sculpture for their public pool. Small photos of these works are seen above.
